Quick start guide¶
When you first log into Rational BI, you will either be in a brand new account or you will be a member of an account that has already been set up.
The main difference betwen the two cases will be the data you have available. In an established account you might have a wide variety of data and connections to remote databases already established. If you are starting with a new account, you will not have any data from your own organization, but you will still have the rich variety of open data to work with.
If you do not have any of your own data in the system, consider uploading some. It's much more interesting to build analytics when you are working with your own data and the results are more meaningful.
You can get data into Rational BI in several ways:
- Upload some data files by dropping them into the home screen.
- Connect to a cloud drive with some data files.
- Connect Rational BI to your database.
After you've connected up some data, or even if you're just sticking with the open data, you'll probably want to build some reports and do some analytics.
When you've built a report, you'll probably want to publish it and maybe schedule it for automatic delivery.
